Question:

Vegans: Would you wear the wool of a pet?

My dad has 5 sheep and 2 alpacasThey get shorn every year, because they have toAnd so we have a shed full of wool (mostly because we are too lazy to get it spun and stuff)But I was thinking about it, and would you (a vegan) not wear/use this wool? What would you propose happens to it in a perfect all-vegan world, it be thrown away, or what?I'm not trying to be offensive or anything like that, I'm just wonderingWool is the one thing I just don't get about veganism.

Answer:

Im not too sure how either one would look with your makeup?
hmm depends on what your doing like if your baking a cookie then sure! but like if your getting highlights or something then that's a problem.
You can't cook with wax paper - that would be parchment paperBut for wrapping stuff up to freeze, wax paper works fine.
that's pretty broadit depends for what? baking.no you can'tFor colouring hair.no you cant For covering something up in the fridge, I guess you canWax paper is used mostly just so dough and things don't stickOr to keep things from burning, like doing iron on t-shirtsAnd if you used aluminum foil for that.you'd be in some trouble.
As long as I have the animal myself, I keep it and care for it and tend to all of its needs, I think we'd have a symbiotic, organic relationshipI provide it all of its needs and then some, and it gives me some wool every yearHowever, that being said, I don't really see a need for wool, there are warmer and more comfortable synthetic or other natural fibers out thereI hate the feel of wool on my skinI had to sleep on wool blankets in bootcamp in the Army and I broke out in rashes every night, it was awfulAlso, sheep were forged by hundreds of thousands of years of natureIn the wild, they wouldn't have been shaved - who would have done it? 150,000 years ago, no sheep alive would have stood up on its hind legs, pulled out some sharpened flint edge and been like, Well, looks like a time for a shave, chaps, and started trimming its hairHowever, your sheep would end up looking bigger, heavier, and probably dirtier, and even uncomfortable if they're in a warmer climateMostly, humans are responsible for migrating sheep world-wide into various climates and doing what-have-you with them and their wool.
