Question:

Vinyl Plank Flooring?

My husband and I want to replace the outdated linoleum in the kitchen with vinyl plank flooring. It looks and feels nice, and the price is right ($48 for 24 sq ft at Home Depot). Anyone have positive or negative experiences with vinyl plank flooring? If you had it to do over again, would you make the same or a different flooring choice?

Answer:

I had laminated wood flooring and that looked good but it's not durable. We replaced it with porcelain tile, now that's a very strong material. The kitchen needs to be very durable, because there is a lot of traffic going through. It does cost more, but in the long run, it's worth it.
Good Quality Vinyl plank flooring (and laminate not made in China) are nice. Make sure they are installed correctly. Most companies have installation instructions online. Whether you do it or they do it if it's not installed right the warrantee is voided. Remember that you usually get what you pay for. Most vinyl plank that I've seen is good looking and durable. If your floor is uneven you may get gaps between the boards.
