I recently threw up over a large area of my carpet. I have already removed the vomit but now I must remove the smell. I have used a mixture of vinegar, water, and soap, this seems to be working but I then used a pet odor remover to finish the job. I plan on vacuuming cleaning and adding the carpet foam and baking soda over the area. Should I do that? Do u guys have any suggestions to remove the vomit smell from the carpet? Thank you.
Trying using laundry soap. Mix hot water and laundry soap scrub area than use clean hot water to scrub up area than vacuum up with a shop vac. I think it works well. Or if you want to get something at the store get Rug Doctor's Pet spray. It works great on smells and stains. All you do is spray the area than put a wet warm rag on it and leave it over night while it drys. Good luck!!
and why did you vomit in the carpet I wonder
Baking soda works excellent. In the course of the day crack your home windows in that room to let the contemporary air in, after which tonight before you go to mattress liberally sprinkle the spot with baking soda. Let it sit down in a single day and vacuum up the following morning.
Dampen the area with clean water and then sprinkle baking soda over it. Rub the baking soda into the soiled area and let dry; brush or vacuum to remove the dry material.
This carpet needs the attention of a professional carpet cleaner, some one who can treat the carpet and then hot water rinse and extract it. The carpet then can be treated with a deodorizer at that point. I do not recommend carpet foam or baking soda as these products are extremely hard, if not impossible to remove. Carpeting is a very expensive investment, it pays to do things right regarding cleaning and routine maintenance once and a while.
