Question:

VW Passat Owners and experienced drivers, I need help with lifting my Passat.?

Ok So I need to change one of my tires. It is a 2000 VW Passat GLX. The car is kind of low, I think thats how it came, I don't mean dropped like a low rider, but lower than most cars. When I do the oil changes, I need to lift it because the drain pan just fits. Anyways, I don't know exactly where to place the JACK, i dont know where to place it to lift it. I am worried I might place it in the wrong place and might break something or even cause serious damage to the lower body of the car. Can someone please help??? If possible can you please explain the position of the jack, for both front and back. I really don't want to cause any damage to my car. Thank You all for your help.

Answer:

The answer is in your owners manual. Failing that, there is an indentation in the sill similar to an arrow head, place your jack on the downward facing area adjacent to the arrow head.
Just behind the front wheel, roughly in line with the front door hinge line, where the body sheet metal curves inward under the car, you will find a small dimple, same just ahead of the rear wheel in the same area. The dimple marks the lift point. The jack is positioned in line with the dimple, behind or straddling the metal crease located there. Its also described in the owners manual, or a sticker on the jack itself.
