You tube videos are great for learning to knitAll you need for a scarf is yarn and needlesChoose a medium thickness yarn in a pale colourDark colours make it hard to see each stitch for a beginnerThe yarn you chose will have a paper band around it telling you which size needles you should use for that yarn.
Possibly but the real damage is to your lungsThose tiny little fibers or even worse glass fibers getting in there isn't goodWear a maskEven a cheap fiber one will work if your not working with this on a day to day basis.
