Question:

Waste heat generators for residential use?

We heat our home and shop with a wood boiler in the winter, which has saved us a considerable amount of moneyBut now I am looking to take it furtherWe pay $200-300 per month in electricity, and I have been researching waste heat generatorsHowever, the information on them is sparseIt's nearly impossible to find laces that sell them, or pricing for themI wouldn't even be above building my own, but I need informationAny help is greatly appreciatedThanks in advance

Answer:

socalgal just about sums it upI just want to add though that I was visiting my sister in Las Vegas and headed to the Hoover Dam on Sunday and was told that it was closed and we had to turn around and head back towards Las Vegas to get on the 95I gotta tell yait was very frustrating! They should have really put up some more signs saying it was closedPlus, trying to cut to Kingman on the 95, it was backed upMy trip home back to Phoenix took seven hours, which it should only take 4 1/2.
Here is howWaste heat - cook water into steam - steam push a turbine - turbine rotate generator - produce electricityBuild a powerful boiler firstThen build a steam engine like the one used in old steam power trainThird, build a gear box to convert slow rotation steam engine into a faster rotation rate to meet the generator requirement before engage it to generator shaft.
Thanks for the info socalgal and thanks for asking the question.Had my heart racing there for a moment.I am a truck driver and I knew the damn has been shut off since 911 attacks.,had me worried.I appreicate the information from the both of you.God Bless and have a good night,
