I was wondering if there was a device that can pump and cool water. What I am looking for is essentially an aquarium pump that cools the water as it circulates.
What I do for chilling wort involves a copper tubing heat exchanger. I have (right now in fact) a coil of copper tubing immersed in my hot liquid and I pump cool water through the tubing. It would work just as well with a pot of salted ice water and your hot liquid being pushed through the copper tubing. The copper tubing is the semiflexible coils you can get at a home store for $20ish. You'd salt the ice for maximum cooling but start the pump before submersing the coils to keep your water from freezing in the pipe.
