Question:

Water pumps leaking on a Chevy Express Van?

I have a Chevy Express Van 3500, i believe that the water pump is leaking, how long would it last before major breakage?

Answer:

Fix the pump. One of the easier do-it-yourself jobs. I'm a girl and I can do it.
a rebuilt waterpump is cheap, but if you need to use the vehicle, use stop leak in the radiator before you drive
If it really is the water pump, then the coolant is seeping out of the weep hole at the bottom of the pump. Leakage from this location indicates that the seal around the shaft is worn. Eventually (no more than a few days), the leak will degrade to the point that the pump must be replaced. I personally don't use stop-leak in any system in our cars - I prefer to fix the leak and be done with it! For now, keep a close eye on that leak - and your temperature gauge.
do not put stopleak in your car. it will destroy it. fix the waterpump
