I am considering making another wand for my rituals, one that is a better wood, more straight, and such. I have small peices of quartz, (very small) and I could probably make them as the tip of the wand. What are some special properties of that stone? And what would be the best way to attache it?
Chatoyant quartz is also known as Tiger Eye Quartz. It is a semi-precious gem variety of quartz with bands of gold to yellow to red-brown color with a silky luster. The banding and color are caused by tiny inclusions of crocidolite, which is a fibrous version of riebeckite and therefore is a type of asbestos. However, you have nothing to worry about as the crocidolite is completely encapsulated and even replaced by silica. In other words, there are no fibrous minerals that can be released from the rock.
