Question:

What are some alternatives to fiberglass+resin for hardening papercrafts?

So basically, I've made a giant paper craft onto card stock. I want to harden it somehow so that it keeps its form and can take a couple hits for the off chance that it is dropped, etc. At the same time, considering its size, I also need to keep in mind its weight at the end of it all. My main goal for the finished product is to be able to wear it, like a giant hat/helmet.At first I was considering using plaster in a paper-mache style, but then a friend of mine told me to try fiberglass and resin. I researched that option a bit, and the safety precautions and risks involved have pretty much scared me away. Thus, I ask what are some possible alternatives? Thanks in advance! For those interested, here's what I'm working on right now:

Answer:

Close the inlet valve. Remove the pressure gauge and insert a plug of the same size with tephlon tape. Re-open inlet valve. Check for leak. If none then your gauge has the leak. It may be the joint itself for the pressure gauge - so re-do the joint with tephlon tape.
Wow, hold it, hold it. You are getting ahead of yourself here. You should take things one step at a time. YOu are meeting here, which is great. Talk to her, let her appreciate your qualities by knowing you better and you knowing her better. Then, see where things lead to afterwards.
