So, I m moving to an apartment that has totally outdated carpet. I want to change it, but obviously I can t being that it is an apartment I m renting. Are there any other options, other than buying a giant rug? Also, what are carpet tiles? I ve heard that they re cheaper than actual carpet, but do they require installation? Are they permanent? DIY people, help!!
Carpet tiles are much better than people think, you see them in lots of public places. You just lay them down and join them up. You can get carpet glue to spray on the back of each one. They don't even need to be the same colour, you can create a pattern ect. Also, if you were to spill a drink, and it stained the carpet, you can replace the tile/s that are ruined.
You cannot lay carpet tiles over existing carpet.
You will not be happy about how these look if you put them over existing carpet and they are typically NOT cheaper than regular carpet. Your best bet is probably just big area rugs on top of existing carpet to define areas of use like living area, dining area, etc.
