G'day, first thing to do is sort out the water under door during heavy rains if your going to put down any flooring,,, either a small awning above door, shallow trench or small step into man cave (a cement or rubber hump will suffice), you'd do we'll to think about sealing around the ceiling as any heat you do get in there won't hang around long enough to warm the area consistently (a plyboard inner wall and ceiling with old carpet underlay fixed between board and wall will act as insulation and you'll get it for freeFind someone replacing their carpet and ask them for it, even take the carpet too if your happy with it) just raise your floor an inch with treated pine (1 inch x 1 inch) and lay the cheapest board on top, then carpet, it'll stop any mould getting inAny flooring should be laid on a raised floor using this or similar method, another option is treated pine decking, it's cheap and easy to install (you don't really need gaps between you can butt them up as long as they stay dry and don't swell) I've got a small wood heater I picked up from a yard sale for $45 in my cave, works a treat and I use recycled fence posts (redgum) for firewoodAlso free! No heating bills ever!! I also put in 2 standard exhaust fans (same as bathroom) for summertime, (I got given an old window style Aircon though I'm yet to install, it's a little noisy but it works, Beggars can't be choosers) hope at least some of this is helpful mate
