Question:

What are some high fiber foods for babies?

I have 11 month old twins who seem to get constipated quite frequentlyOur doctor said to feed them foods that are higher in fiberI've been searching online but haven't come up with very good ideasSo my question is, does anyone know of any baby foods that are high in fiber that I can feed them? Or know of a link I can check out to get some information I hate seeing them struggle to go to the bathroom, breaks my heart when they start screaming and push and push and nothing comes out unless its hard as a rock.

Answer:

Think of fiber as the natural plant material that you (or your twins) eatAnything that passes in more or less the same form as it entered is a good source of fiberAny fruits/veggies that can be eaten with skins are greatDried fruit bits are an easy fibrous fruit optionSome other ideas could be corn, peas, potatoes with the skin, and legume beans (not veggie beans) At 11 months your twins should be fine eating fibrous real foods rather than baby foodsIf for some reason they still have to have purees consider making your own out of some fibrous foodsMost jarred baby foods don't contain a whole lot of fiber.
