What can tell me what these are please from the heating system??-piping-heat transfer components lt;= is it a heat exchanger??- source pipes for geothermal heating/cooling units; Thanks.Any
I think piping would be all the pipes that carry the fluid or whatever runs through the system. The source pipes are of course the pipes that carry the fluid from wherever it comes from. The heat transfer component is called a Heat Exchanger or Air Handler.
A heat exchanger is a device which convert's a source of heat from one medium to another. For example: water gets heated in a boiler, turns to steam, and gets transferred to a radiator. The radiator emits the heat generated from the hot water. That radiator is a heat exchanger. Piping is simply the pipes involved. The beauty of a geo thermal unit is they use the earth as method of heating cooling. Depending on the location that is. If you lived near a volcano in a northern climb such as Iceland then you could tap into the heat from below and use that energy to warm your home or town for that matter. Or if you live in Colorado you could use the cold mountain water to cool the city of Denver as they of course already do.
