Question:

What can I preform for an audition?

I need to write a short monologue and preform it for spring play auditions. What can I write about? It supposed to be a realistic topic.

Answer:

perform something you feel passionate about
Think about what excites you. What is your passion? Are you passionate about acting? Then feed from that write about why you love acting. Write about that addicting thrill that only presents itself to you while standing atop a stage. Write about the rush of adrenaline that pierces through your veins every time a well written line escapes your lips. Write about how when you step foot on a stage, the world around you fades away, and you find yourself in a world of your own, where anything can happen with a little effort. That is the sort of thing your directors or teachers will be looking for. They want to see someone who is on fire for acting. they want to see your heart and all of it that you reserve for acting. If you show them that, they will be simply MAD not to except you. --Monker
here is something I wrote a while back...maybe it will help you out. Follow Your Yellow Brick Road By Jackie Edwards Following your yellow brick road may not be easy but it will be worth the effort. Follow your dreams on your yellow brick road. It starts with a thought of what you want out of your life. Think about that for a minute. What does “live your life mean to you”? Is it just sitting around waiting for things to happen, or does it mean Going out and trying your best to make things happen. For me it is getting on my yellow brick road that God put before me. Making that first step is always the longest, but that is the first step of putting you on the right road. The first thing you have to do is find the road. That could be the hardest thing you will ever have to do. I wish there was a map to show the road to everyone, But that map is only in your own heart. You just have to find it. Your search beings with knowing Gods principles of life, And those are the 10 commandments given to us. Next thing you have to do is extract your talents. We all have talents we just have to find them, Search for them, express them. Talent is in everyone, so it is in you too. Maybe it is only one thing, well find that one thing and follow it. It will put you on your yellow brick road. Dream it, live it, make it happen.
Write about what you know. The easiest thing is to write about yourself or an experience. Act out the roles of the people involved
