Question:

What causes magnetic striping?

What causes magnetic striping and what structure of the seafloor would have magnetic striping? And also why does magnetic striping on the seafloor provide evidence of plate movement? Just short answers are fine, I think I have an idea of what the answer is to these questions but I just wanna make sure i‘m right. Thank you in advance.

Answer:

Micro electronics don't generate enough of a magnetic field to affect the magnetic strips on cards. The kitchen magnets, like the ones on the refrigerator, will wipe a card stripe if the magnet is laid on the card, even on the opposite side, but it does have to be virtually on the card to do it. Another mistake that people make is laying their card down at the store on the magnetic RFID anti-theft disabler. I don't understand that last part of your question. What is a hotel purpose?
Magnetic Striping Of The Seafloor
Molten magnetic materials preserve the magnetism around them as they cool. In the case of lava welling from the earth, it is the magnetism of the earth, which periodically reverses and constantly shifts the location of the north and south poles. So, if the plates shift because more lava is pushed up between them and as it chills it records along the ocean bottom dividing line the changes in magnetism. While it was obvious that Africa and South America fit together and plates were proposed about 1920's, the mechanism of the movement of the plates was not determined until the 60's with the detection of the stripes.
