We just bought new furniture for our lounge and dinning room, the sofa and cairs are brown leather and the tables are light oak. Do you think our floor should match the colour of the tables or should the contrast e.g light wood furniture with dark floors. please help as i have no clue
I vote for a dark floor. Its is totally elegant!!
Dark floors, would look a lot better, plus a dark floor look a lot better than light with the light oak.you could find a large light colored area rug to make it look fantastic.
I would do a color darker than your oak tables but not dark enough to show every speck of dust. Dark floors are hard to keep dust-free unless you want the hassle of doing it every day. You can see alot of samples by going to a Home Depot or Lowes.
Totally depends on your style, but I vote for contrast. With light oak, I wouldn't go with very dark floors but darker than the oak. There are a million shades to chose from - try poking around the Pergo site to get an idea for what you like. The only way I'd say to go for a light shade is if you're going for a minimalist look (i.e. minimal, decor like a single white throw rug) If you aren't a fan of cleaning - or able to clean every day - you want to avoid dark floors. Even in the most spotless homes, they show every speck of dust and need to be cleaned daily to look presentable. We just refinished our hardwood and opted to stick with the natural color. It's a deep honey shade. Very pretty and versitile.
Dark floors will look more elegant, but they will have to be dry dusted often. I would not ever match wood tones in the furniture and floor. You definitely need a contrast.
