Question:

What do I have to change out if I put an aftermarket muffler or exhaust system on my stock Jeep?

Details: I have a stock 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with the stock exhaust system. What would I need to change if I upgraded the exhaust or muffler?

Answer:

Just the exhaust or muffler. No other changes need to be made.
nothing, if you get the system built for your vehicle it will bolt right up
Typically there are two main options people go with: a Cat-back system or just the muffler and/or tips. A full cat-back system refers to replacing everything from the catalytic converter back to the tail pipe - typically with a better, larger, less restrictive flow. As mentioned on the other posts, if you just change the muffler and get one that matches your vehicle make it should bolt right up and take 10 minutes. If you go with something that isn't specifically made for your Jeep you may need a shop to fabricate a bracket or hanger or two.
