Question:

What do think about cork flooring?

I am thinking about putting cork flooring in my kitchen and bathroom. Cork is supposed to be water resistant, but I'm not sure about that. It's also suppose to be low maintenance. Does any one out there have cork flooring, and what do you have to say about it.

Answer:

Sounds great that way whoever misbehaves pin their *** to the floor.
my friend does, she says its not good since when its full of water it gets squishy and it realeases a bad odor
We tried it and it doesn't last. Try bamboo laminated for kitchen and bathrooms - far superior.
Newer cork flooring is much higher density than the old stuff. Still it does scratch and tear so I would not use it if you are hard on floors. I would not recommend for bathrooms. It is water resistant but not waterproof. I like cork floors for the looks and acoustic properties. I would not use it in my home but that is because with the boys and two dogs it would not be practical. I owned a janitorial service for many years. In the 1970's several clients had cork floors. There were not many companies that knew how to maintain them. In one office building the floor had been installed in 1948 and was still good. Newer cork is compressed to make it harder and more wear resistant and is usually finished with polymers or urethanes for for water resistance, wear and maintainability.
