Question:

What do u know about transformers?

Its a long story but i have no idea what a transform is. and not the robot things in the movies. I apparently have one attached to my desk. R they supposed to buzz if theyre used. My dad said that was the source of the buzzing since ive been using it lately and have been hearing it for a few nights. I thought it was a bug or something. I unplugged it about an hour ago but he buzzing continues. Like right now it is. But if anyone knows anything about transformers could u tell me? Or insects the buzz electronically and stay in one hiding place for four days now?

Answer:

Yes there is. Many diesel engines use a heater to warm the incoming air to aid start up. I know I have no clue about this kind of thing though. I've only been doing this for 30 years or so. I think you should get a KN filter and some 24 inch rims and a set of subs so you can annoy every one within a half mile radius.
All cars and trucks have a flow switch in the air intake which switch between hot air over the exhaust manifold and the front of the engine dependent on the ambient temperature.
all i know it that they change a specific voltage. like if you have a US appliance and you use it in another country that has a different voltage, the transformer can change the voltage of the appliance so you can use it in the other country
A transformer in this instance is probably used to change your main voltage to or from 115v to 220v. In the context of your question, it is made from many thin iron sheets (laminations) around which is wound a coil of copper wire and through this passes your mains power at 60Hz in USA. The buzz you hear is the laminations vibrating with the changing current. They should not normally buzz, this is due to the lams being a bit loose, not ideal but no big problem. If it gets too bad you have the choice of replacing it or varnish impregnating it if it is something special. If the buzz is still there when you unplug it, then there is another one lurking somewhere! Some flourecent light will buzz too. In fact anything that uses a mains transformer can buzz.
Hot air intake.not really, but older carburated cars had valves that would direct warm air from on top of the exhaust manifolds to the intake to help them run in the coldSearch for a heat riser valve.it wont do you any good for a fuel injected car and its only for really cold starts on carburated engines Good luck!
