Question:

what do you do if your cat pees on the rugs in the bathroom that are right by his litter box?

he keeps on peeing on the rugs he goes poop in the cat box but even though he gets in trouble he just keeps on peeing on the rugs! any ideas how to solve this?

Answer:

easy get rid of the rugs. he must not like something about it. If you dont remove it eventually he will be peeing else where in the house
Have you tried offering him a second litter box? Some cats are pretty fussy about how clean their litter area is. If this is a new behaviour, take him to the vet. Any time a pet demonstrates a sudden change in their energy level, behaviour, or habits, it's time for a trip to the vet for a check up. Your pet can't tell you what's wrong, they can only show you.
Your cat may have a urinary tract infection and is associating the pain when he pees with the litter box. You need to have the cat examined and have a urine test done to eliminate this as a cause. And you need to completely remove the urine odor otherwise the cat will continue to pee there. Cats sense of smell is much more so than humans so even if you cant smell it the cat may. I have more info on my blog if you're interested. Cats also dont recognize getting into trouble like dogs do. They dont realize that the reason you are upset is because of something they did.

wash them with baking soda and hot water. Spray them with zero odor. If that doesn't work throw them out all together.
