Did you have them? Was it worth the cost to rent them? I have found some places to rent them locally and they are around $2 per chair ... we are having around 150 guests and our budget is about $8000. I really think they make the chairs and room look so much nicer but am wondering if it is worth it.
While they do make the overall appearance of the room look nice, I have never been to a wedding wear i can remember if they had chair covers or not. My 3 friends and I are all in the process of planning and keep trying to think back to other weddings we've attended. Usually just the bridal party, and the party. It's your day though so if that's what you want and makes you happy, go for it.
Hi. Can you go to the reception site to see an actual wedding set up prior to your wedding? If you can, I would suggest doing that. And even if you can't see it all set up, possibly you can go in and look over the chairs. Are they in good condition? Or are they all beat up? If they are OK, then I would not spend the extra money. Think about it....YES, as you walk into the EMPTY room, it all looks pretty. But once all your guests are seated....well, it really doesn't matter! If the chairs are in good condition, I would save your money for something else.
I've never cared for how they look, so these other opinions might be based on that. Most chair covers are uncomfortable because I can't tuck my feet underneath. I was at a party when they had loose ones, but that seems to be the exception. The main use I've seen for them was by someone sitting at a table with me once. Her infant was fussing, and she (the mother) wanted to eat. We took the sash of the chair cover, turned it backwards, and used it to hold the kid in place in her chair. However, as this sort of thing horrifies many people (and is only appropriate is some cases, with some kids), you don't want to plan based on that ;-).
I absolutely love them and will have them in my wedding. I always love how they make a regular room look elegant. I live in nyc and the quotes i was getting was $7 a chair which was way over our budget but after alot of research I found a place that rent them at $2.25. I have 125 guest. for me they were a must even if people didn't remember that there was chair covers. It was something i wanted. If you don't think they are worth it and you are in such a strict budget i wouldn't have them.
I guess it depends who you ask but we opted for chair covers and I think it REALLY made the ceremony reception look more elegant and put together than just using the plain ugly chairs that were underneath. Our chair covers were $5.50 each but we had a much bigger budget than you have. If you have a small budget it's probably best to spend that money on something else since it is just a chair after all. I'm amazed that you can plan a wedding for 150 people with only $8,000 so if you can manage the cost of chair covers then definitely do it, I'm glad we did.
