It means to lube the chain immediately after riding, presumably so the lube will flow better and penetrate the chain parts. The fallacy with this advice is that proprietary chain lubes actually do very little to extend the life of the chain. With an o-ring or x-ring chain, you don't want your product to penetrate because the roller pins are already lubricated by grease retained by the rubber rings, and if a penetrant should get past the rings it could wash the grease right out. The only way to extend the life of your chain by lubrication is to supply it with a continuous feed of oil with something like a Scottoiler. Anything you spray on the chain will be worn away from the bearing surfaces of the sprocket teeth and chain rollers in a very short distance, as little as a few blocks. If you are running in a gritty environment, as with a dirt bike or on gravel roads, the best thing you can do is keep the chain clean by rinsing it with something like WD40. No chain treatment regimen has been shown to give longer chain life for a dirt bike chain. It does not matter if it goes on hot or cold.
