Question:

what does it mean if my ring says 925 china?

I‘ve been told it is real silver. Butt i‘m not sure if it is because it says china

Answer:

The number refers simply to the fact that the silver is 92.5% pure, which makes it sterling. Check out the site below vvv You could always take it to a jewelers or some place that buys gold/silver and they'll test it for you
It is sterling silver. 92.5% silver and remaining 7,5% is some other metal(varies, mostly copper). Pure silver is 99% and is usually sold as bullions(bars, just like gold bars, marked .999 to say 99.99% pure). Don't worry though, pure silver is very soft and usually not used for making jewelry. In order to make jewelry it should be harder, so that it can be shaped etc, the reason why pure silver which is soft, is often mixed with copper or such metals to make it hard, which is now called sterling silver(An alloy of silver and copper).
