Question:

What does it take to run an excavator?

I would like to find a job running excavators but I'm not sure where to start. How long does it take to get licensed and how much does it cost? Would a company pay for me to get licensed to work for them?

Answer:

If you want to become a good excavator, you must undergo an excavator training. True enough the training will be an additional cost on your part. But there are also instances when the employer shoulders the training expenses..... Construction Technology Training.. Construction Technology Certificate of Training for Backhoe, Dozer, End Dump, Belly Dump, Excavator, and Loader... 4-week course is for heavy equipment training (on a minimum of 2 pieces of equipment). Training equipment includes: Class A B commercial trucks and trailers, excavator, dozer, backhoe, and loader. The course involves both classroom and outside lab instruction.... Age 18, photo ID, DOT physical, and drug test (DOT drug test if have a CDL - non-DOT drug test if no CDL)... Length: 4 weeks.. Tuition Cost: $4,900.. Fees: $160 (includes books, lab fee, and certification fees); $89.25 TSA Fee, DOT physical, DOT drug test, and room and board are additional..........
You need a special licence, and to do that you need to work for an excavation company as a laborer and get them to teach you and help you get your licence.
