Yes, definitely do not throw water on them. Although it would be better than doing nothing, it's not the best idea. Tell the person to stop, drop, and roll, if they can. If they cannot, then use a heavy blanket or something of the sort to smother the flames. Once the flames are out, leave the person covered or wrapped - if you try to peel the blanket off them, you could peel off some of their skin. Gross, but true. If they are conscious, keep them talking. If the person is unconscious, ensure they have an open airway and are breathing, and just monitor their condition until the ambulance arrives. If they are not breathing, then you need to provide care for them - but only if you're trained in how to administer first aid. I definitely suggest a basic first aid course, or even a CPR class. The more you know, the more help you can be.
Believe your mom really, its not about babing you, its about were you are in your life, your not ready because your life isn't ready. You could just hang in there, take what you can, but thats really just going to leave the both of you missing each other, really should of stay'd away from relationships not because of who you are mind you, but becasue of were you are in your life.
