Question:

What is a barebones laptop?

I read that when building a laptop you need to get a barebones laptop. But what is one? What is in it?

Answer:

Its just the laptop shell with display, usually the motherboard and CPU, and the video (usually onboard). You add your own quantity of memory and hard drive. Sometimes you also add your own optical drive (DVDRW), but that my be included in the barebone too. Barebone just means less than complete. It could only be missing a hard drive and be considered a barebone.
