the transmission converts the power made from the motor to the drive line. like a bicycle, the transmission is like the gears on a bike. the chain is the drive line. if the transmission does not work, the car wont move. the motor will still turn on etc, but thats it. you need the trans to go down the road.
a transmission is where your gears are at. inside the car you have a gear shift and when you pull it in gear your changing the gears inside the transmission. the transmission hooks up to your engine and that,s what makes the car go.
