I‘m trying to buy an 1999 Oldsmobile Alero GLS but it has a electronic transmission and I don‘t know if that‘s good or bad. What is the difference between an automatic transmission and a electronic one?
well automatic electronic its the type or automatic transmission basically the electronic part has to do with the sensors and solenoids in the transmission not to mention it has its own computer this allows for smoother shifts pretty much every car and truck had these now days its vary common.
The only difference really is the method of controlling and sifting the transmission. Older automatic transmissions use a rather simple pressure differential to control shifting points. It has been somewhat effective for many years, but didn't do much for power management/fuel economy. The newer electronic controls actually tie into the transmission control module of the power train management computer, and give more precise control, and better overall efficiency.
Means no longer mechanical changing gears, basically you could say With a push of a button!
