Question:

what is cvt transmission?

lancer2008 cvt transmission

Answer:

It has to be a crossed wire or a problem in the steering wheel harness. That is a mess. See if you can get a quote for a used column. I would not fix it until it gets worse. If it catches fire, get out.
As Bluto would say, alligator attack in mid question.
Constant velocity transmission. The fluid is different and the cost of repairs are out of sight. The transmission never sounds like its changing gears but it is and when the fluid becomes low on viscosity the higher the repairs are so change the fluid every 15k alright best thing to do.
CVT is short for constant velocity transmission. It dosent shift like a normal trans you will not feel it and the fluid is way expensive
CVT is Continuously Variable Transmission. Instead of a normal transmission that has gears that are different sizes to produce different ratios, a CVT essentially has an unlimited number of ratios. A CVT contains two cone shaped objects with a belt wrapped around them. One cone brings in power from the engine and one cone takes power out of the transmission and to the drive axle(s). The belt travels around both cones and is actually what transmits power from the engine to the wheels. The cones slide back and forth so that the belt is travelling in low gear on the larger part of the engine side cone and the smaller part of the axle side cone, and then in high gear, smaller part on engine side, larger part of axle side. The different diameters of the different parts of the cones are what provide the different ratios. However, the movement of the cones is so seamless, that the RPM's remain constant to keep the engine in its power band so that you get the best performance possible. Hope this helps.
