I know sandstone is a sedimentary rock and quartz is igneous but what is it made of? Little particles of quartz?
Quartz often is cut according to where the crystals are. That means that many are full of flaws, which can have coloured material between the faults. It could be considered a crack, but it's probably where two crystals meet.
