What is the best sounding exhaust system for a ford f150 2010 5.4l?
If you don't want to spend a great deal of money, a single to dual outlet flowmaster 40 or 44 will get you a decent sound. For even less money than that you could have a y pipe at the converter and run straight pipes with no mufflers. If you're willing to sink some money into it, you could do a true dual system with headers, high flow cats, and single chamber mufflers. Ignore arefu, he hasn't got a clue what he's talking about. Contrary to what he mentions, it's fundamentally impossible for catalytic converters to clean your engine Since they are well downstream of the combustion process in the first place.
Magnaflow or Flowmaster. Make sure it is a Header-back. Meaning, the exhaust goes from your engine and out. Most exhausts are cat-back, meaning they go from your catalytic converter and back. They only sound loud and thats it. With a header back, the exhaust leaving your engine has more room to flow, and it will flow faster, you will also have a newer, better, catalytic converter. Ergo, you get a much better exhaust system that cleans your engine, is LOUD, and gives you some gains in horsepower.
It all depends on personal opinion. I would get a Flowmaster 40 series or better yet get a single chamber 10 series, would be kinda loud with the 10 even though its bottled up by those cats.
