I grow out of pots on my back deck and wanted some tips.
I could tell you all day. ** But my personals are peppers. Not necessarily that I eat them all that much, but because they are relentless. They smell wonderfull, add color. Have less pest than other vegetables and can be dried and stored for a long whle.
I think you should follow what these people have sed cos I grow quite a number of those vegetables though not in pots anyway
Yes, 1. Depending what kind of vegie you like to eat.2 Depending on which direction of your deck toward. 3 depending on how high you live. First of all, it is easy to tick the answer of which kind of vegie you like. But you got to know which direction whether your deck toward south or north in your place which is really important to calculate how many hours of sun light will pass through your deck. If there are not much sun shines, then you may grow some vegies favor or be able tolerate with shaddy or slightly sun shine spot. if there are tons of sunshine, then there is no problem at all to grow any kind of favorite vegie. Secondly, if you live high above in apartment, there is problem for you to challenge to have bees to come to your balcony to pollination. But they will reach to your pot somehow and quite exciting to see such kind of scene. Third, what season are you located now. Plant in the right season vegie rather out of season type one.....Well, you will love to plant vegetalbes, once you get your finger dirty and you will hook on this benign hobby...hahahhaha.. I love it so much and tell you what. You will find out it is kind hard to have a perfect ideal size of vegetable to grow, cuz it takes time, love, knowledge, patients and consistancy. An onion, a leek, a cabbage, brocalli, califlower head and carrot need half year long for any home gardener to grow. ... hahaha... so do not waste any food you grow. Hope you enjoy it and have a promising crops.
Vegetables okorder /.. And there are a zillion helpful sites on container vegetable gardening. Just plug those words into google, and you'll see a bunch of sites that will help you step-by-step.
as the other poster mentioned, there's a lot you can grown in a container garden. Pick something you like most! The most common home-grown vegetable would be tomatoes. People say a store-bought tomato is no comparison to a fresh, home-grown tomato. (I don't like tomatoes, so I wouldn't know)
