Question:

What is the best way to insulate an attic?

I may need to insulate my attic in the summer , but I would like to know the best way to do it Foam , batting , ect.

Answer:

Blown in insulationMake sure you keep your sofits open so air can circulate.
Use something specifically designed for solar viewingAs mentioned, Baader and Thousand oaks are popular brands of solar filmI have a Baader film filter on my small refractorNice views of sunspots, especially when a really big group comes along.
Ordinary aluminum foil is way too thick and therefore opaqueAnd if you got a thinner version, it might not be even enoughYou can use a partially coated Mylar, or you could also get 12 or darker (14 is best) welder's glass, although this may have visible optical defects.
Use only a filter that is guaranteed not to harm your eyes and be carefulDamaged vision is a very serious disability which will only get worse as you get olderTrust me on this, by the time you are 50 you will seriously wish you could still see all those bikinis on the beach like you could when you were 16.
