Question:

What is the best yarn for knitting/crocheting a trivet?

I'm guessing cotton? I'm thinking something that can stand up the heat of a quot;just out of the ovenquot; potI find alot of people use knitted/crocheted dishrags not only as trivets, but also for handling hot items from the oven or stoveWhat fiber is best to avoid the person burning themselves? Again, I'm guessing cotton?

Answer:

Put the potato in the oven and bake it for about 1 hour at 350 f A baked potato is incredibly forgiving in terms of the temperature / time If you are cooking something else at high heat, you can also bake your potato at high heat (for a shorter time) If you are cooking something at low heat, just increase the timeYou can also skewer the potato with a metal skewer to shorten the time (the skewer gets hot and cooks the inside at the same time as the outside)
I made some Sunday and this is how I did it and they were so goodpre-heated oven to 450washed and scrubbed potatoes poked three holes in each one put in microwave and nuked them for 10 minutes took them out and wrapped them in foil and put in the oven for 1 hour.they were awesome.butter, sour cream, cheese and bacon bits.is what we used on top!
for a regular sized potato: Wash and dry potato Rub a little olive oil all over skin, then sprinkle with sea salt and cracked pepperWrap potato in aluminum foil completelyBake at 400 for one hour, squeeze to check and if not soft enough put in for another 20 minutes, check againor you can just wrap the potato in foil and shove in oven at 425 for one hour.
Scrub your potato, dry, and prick with a forkLightly rub it with oil, season with coarse salt, and pop into a 400 degree oven for about 1 hour.
I have made my own pattern for a pot holder that can be used on fairly hot things to hold something just out of the ovenIf you would like to have the pattern e-mail me.
