Question:

What is the difference between a hydrogen generator and a hydrogen fuel cell? ?

I have seen and built an hho generator from a glass jar but how could I use the gas from the little generator to make electricity? Everytime I do a search for hydrogen generator or fuel cell they pop up with the same thing, isn't a generator a device that produces the gas and a fuel cell a device that turns the gas into electricity? Thank you for all your answers and help.PS. Any links on this would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:

The confusion comes from those trying to market their hydrogen generators for vehicles. Frequently they call them fuel cells. These devices use electricity or an alternative energy source to produce oxygen and hydrogen from water. In more legitimate technological and academic circles the fuel cell is a device that produces electricity directly from a fuel which is sometimes hydrogen (that combines with separate atmospheric oxygen separated by a membrane. (PEM fuel cell) You can see the obvious marketing ploy. Take a several thousand dollar device that is recognized by the scientific community and then call your product that you can make for $5 by the same name and sell it for hundreds and thousands.
There are numerous credible proofs that a Boyce Specification Hydroxy(HHO) generator can improve gas mileage from 10-60%, these are actual mileage results from users. It is NOT true that it takes more energy to make the HHO than you gain from its use, unless you have a crappy HHO cell of which there are many on the market. You must use a high efficiency cell with a high quality gas like Bob Boyce cells or Stan Meyers cells. There are several suppliers making these good cells. Irving Langmuir (Nobel Prize Winner and chief GE Inventor) proved that his Monatomic Hydrogen Generator turned H2 into H H and back with a net energy gain. Also, there was a 1970 Nobel Prize awarded for proving that entropy is not always a one way street in systems that are not in equilibrium. Wiki and most academia try to obscure that fact to protect vested energy interests and make Free Energy and Over-unity systems seem impossible. Challenge your academician to name a single thing in all the known Universe that has ever been still. Then ask him again how he feels about perpetual motion, lol.
A hydrogen generator is a device that makes hydrogen. HHO generators basically crack H2O into hydrogen and oxygen using lots of electricity. A hydrogen fuel cell will use Hydrogen to make electricity. Now you could feed you HHO into a fuel cell to make electricty. But the process to make the HHO will use more electricity than you will make in the fuel cell.
Hydrogen vehicles makes use of a technique that generates electricity to run an electric motor. an electric motor vehicle makes use of electricity to run an electric motor, yet probabaly has a battery as a potential source particularly than a hydrogen tank.
