No its just top keep their hair neat when they're not going out(I'm not sure about the ones who where them outside). It has absolutely nothing to do with straighting hair because it won't do thatit just keeps it neat. Its not for fashion purposes either.
Ceramic braces are tooth coloured so are much more difficult to see so people prefer them for aesthetic purposes.
