What is the difference between sculptures and ceramics?

Answer:

Sculptures are made for aesthetics and may be made from ceramic materials but need not be. ie Bronze , wood , ice , stone etc Ceramics are made from ceramic materials only , irrelavant of use for aesthetics ,functionality or both. Ceramics are ceramic materials. Sculptures are products from the process of sculpting.
Sculptures are normally carved while ceramics are normally from a slip (a liquid clay) poured mold.
If you are talking about a class - * A lot of ceramic classes start using a potters wheel Some will start with a pinch pot then the Wheel or a slab built box * Sculpture classes vary a lot so you would need to ask the place that is offering the class Sculpture is considered decorative Ceramics is a broad material term that functional pieces and decorative pieces can be made Sculpture can be made in ceramics , bronze, glass,or a lot of other materials
