Question:

what is the difference you know a woman does not know these things!!!?

What is the difference between a valve cover gasket, and a head gasket or are they same?

Answer:

rain-x the windows and or replace with new rubber blades which dont last long and should be replace every year and are easy like a 5 minute job . autozone will even do it sometimes if you ask
take a alcohol pad and clean the rubber on them, get all the dirt off of them and clean the windshield. if they are too bad you probably need new ones.
ok her it is beauty, valve covers cover the vales only yes they are on the top of the heads but the head gasket covers the bottom of the heads and the only way to get to them is by removing the heads. as for the valve gasket all you have to do is remove the valve covers ok
No they are different. The valve gasket is found at the bottom of the valve cover which is the metal thing at the top of the motor. The gasket keeps the oil from the rocker arms which is under the cover from leaking down the sides of the motor. Now the head gasket is below the head which is below the valve cover. It keeps a good seal between the head and the engine block.Changing the valve gasket is reasonably cheap but the head gasket is a lot more expensive because it is a bigger job.I hope this helps you and believe me there is a lot of men that doesn't know the difference either.
2 seperate items. Head gasket is usually a sheet of copper with a variety of holes in it (put in specific spots). If the engine needs a head job, then the head is unbolted and the gasket is left on the block. It is replaced for a new one as they can only be used once. So this is more what an engine rebuilder/repairer would replace if the head had to come off. Heads do not come off on their own as there is 10 to 16 big bolts holding the head in place requiring specific wrenches to take them off and put them on. The head weighs 80-120pounds. A valve cover is bolted to the top of the head. Its purpose is to keep the oil in while the engine runs(as oil is squirting everywhere) The valve cover is what you see when you first look at the top of a motor.(whether it be painted or is aluminum with the motor name maybe imbellished on it. This gasket is made either of neoprene black rubber or cork. Sometimes they hold together and sometimes they fall apart due to age. The valve cover weighs maybe 10 pounds tops.
