Question:

What is the gasoline cost rate ($/Kwh) for a 50 Kw Generator?

If I have to put gasoline 8h/day on a 50 KW Generator, what would be the Cost per Kwh or the Annual Cost? Thanks!

Answer:

50 Kilowatt Generator
I have NEVER SEEN a 50 KW generator that runs on GASOLINE anything that big will run on either Diesel or Propane or LNG and usually Diesel. You don't figure it in cost per KWH, anyway a 50 KW genset will probably be driven by at least a 100 HP cat and at 1800 RPM that would be about 10 to 12 Gallons per hour. or 288 to 300 gallons a day maybe more it would depend on a lot of things, like how old the diesel was and how heavily loaded the generator was.
I found a spec sheet on a 50kW diesel generator that says it uses 4.2 gallons per hour at full load, 3.3 gph at 3/4 load, 2.4 gph at 1/2 load, and 1.8 gph at 1/4 load. Full load for an hour would be 50 kWh, so that would be 4.2/50 or .084 gallons per kWh. If diesel is $4.50 per gallon, that would be about $0.38 per kWh. If you run at 1/4 load, 12.5 kW instead of 50 Kw, you would pay $0.65 per kWh.
Gasoline probably nothing. One that size is probably diesel.
