What is the most informative gardening/landscaping book?
there are so many books and magazines which cover that topic it would be difficult to say which is the best . look in some garden shops for books on garden design or design your own
I have one called the American Horticultural Society Encyclopedia of Gardening. It was published in October 1993 and is 648 pages long and the ISBN is 1564582914. I haven't found another book that is remotely close to providing all of the information and great illustrations that it does. There are several places that carry used ones online for less than $20. If you buy it new, it will cost about $60. The book basically tells you everything about everything regarding gardening almost. I highly recommend it.
As a MASTER GARDENER for the UNIV. of CALIF. COOP EXTENSION for over 15 years, I have had to teach about and answer questions from homeowners on all matters involving home and garden. Everything from plant identification, landscape care and design, soil water conservation, integrated pest management, basic irrigation, insect control and identification, diagnosing plant problems and diseases, good bugs, bad bugs, what to grow and when to grow it, etc, etc, etc. There is but one book every master gardener has at his side 24/7. The homeowner's best friend in the garden. The garden BIBLE for many gardeners! It is the only garden book you will ever need. But I can't tell you because of spam. Just kidding. SUNSET WESTERN GARDEN BOOK !! (don't let the western fool you. if it grows in new york city, it will tell you about it) Plant selections, including color pictures of OVER 8000 PLANTS, info you need to create and maintain a healthy garden, state by state resource directory, special effects in the garden and a glossary of gardening terms are but a few areas covered. everything from catching roof rats to attracting butterflys. you won't find a better garden book anywhere. Retails for 'bout $35.00, but you'll often find places like Home Depot, Target Walmart putting it on sale for as low as $16.00. Think how many plants you could kill for $16.00? The price is worth every dime. Impress your neighbors with your garden smarts! Makes a great gift for Dad. Ah, next Father's Day. Mom would love it for Christmas too. Hell, keep it for your own garden let Mom Dad buy their own copy. SUNSET WESTERN GARDEN BOOK I have often served as a plant Judge at the San Diego County Fair, and I couldn't do without it! Better Homes and Gardens. I know-go to a library-flip through different books and decide for yourself. It would be PERSONAL PREFERENCE
Modern Satanism is a philosophy and it is atheistic. Look into the Church of Satan and Anton LaVey and also the Temple of Set (a more religious and philosophical org) and its founder. The groups are not interested in demonology, exorcism or any of that. Also see the book chapter Jean La Fontaine. Satanism and Satanic Mythology. In: Bengt Ankarloo, Stuart Clark, eds. Witchcraft and Magic in Europe. The Twentieth Century. Philadelphia: University of Pennsylvania Press, 1999. You might be able to find the book in a local library. Highly recommended book on the history of magic from an academic POV. It and other books in this series also put into perspective the role of the Churches in all of this. For info on demonology and angelology, look into the Book of Enoch (where angel and demon lore began) and if you are interested in demons in relation to ceremonial magic, then look into the Lesser Key of Solomon, etc.
