What is the purpose of an exhaust emission system?

Answer:

For the best answers, search on this site shorturl.im/avGAj Generally catalytic converters aren't needed, they have been bypassed many times, and it won't hurt how the car runs. But depending on where you live, not sure how the laws are in other states, if the cat isn't there the car won't pass inspection. Needless to say I have hollowed them out, since it was clogged, and they are expensive to replace, just so the case of it was still there, and the car would pass inspection.
The exhaust emission system in a car is to remove harmful gasses from the car's exhaust. Cars usually exhaust CO2, hydrogen monoxide, as well as many other gasses; through the use of catalytic converters, resonators, and other pieces of emission-reducing technology they built over the years, they are making cars more safe for the enviroment by reducing the amount of harmful gasses and substances they exhaust.
