What is the purpose of doing fly cut before plugging while the heat exchanger tube was leaking?
Tube rolling of a heat exchanger is a swaging process which produces a ridge of upset metal. Fly cutting removes that ridge and provides the plug with a geometrically regular seating surface, as well as removing work hardened metal.
