Quartz can be found in its pure form all over the world. It consists of silicon dioxide (SiO2), one of the most common compounds in earth's crust. Sand consists mostly of tiny quartz particles. In other words, you can pretty much just cut it out of the ground where the crystals grow large. tools used include chisels, pry bars, and dental tools, along with explosive blasts.
