Question:

What is wrong with my FACTORY car alarm?

I own a 1998 Ford Explorer. Recently the car alarm has been going off automatically. It does not do it all the time, but it does occur quite often. The only time it doesn‘t do it, is if I leave the car unlocked. I was wondering if anyone knew what was wrong, or if anyone had a similar problem. Also, is there any place I might be able to disengage this feature? Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated. Thank-You.

Answer:

questioning in this question, I dont somewhat understood it. yet i think of my answer in keeping with risk might desire to steer you. Alarms artwork all alongside with the door switches (the comparable used for turning on/off the roof mild once you open the door), regularly this change is placed interior the vehicle physique around the door disguise by using a black rubber around, so whilst the door is closed it close a circuit to instruct off the roof mild and viceversa. The 4 doorways closed point out to the vehicle's computing gadget that it particularly is able to be lock. If there's a poblem with one change and it particularly is shown the door continuously close, which isn't the challenge, yet showing it somewhat is often open, them the alarm equipment is definitely no longer armed, using fact it is going to continuously think of there is one door open. Thats what i think of is occurring in accordance to the advice you're giving me. If it somewhat is like so, them the answer for it somewhat is restore the change electric powered circuitry, it somewhat is carried out by using finding if there is an open, floor or fake touch situation interior the cord lines. this could be carried out by using a perfect electromechanic technician. Rgds.
One of the switch on the door (the swich that is connected to the alarm system) is bad and needs to be replaced. Please also note that all the door switches are on the same link to the alarm so trying to find which door switch is acting up may be tricky. Disconect all the switch, then connect one at a time and test it out. Then when you know which switch is bad just replace that switch. I know because i had the same problem on mine and thats how I fixed it. If it doesnt then take it to a car alarm installation shop and they can help you out. Good luck and hope this helps.
Possibly door on drivers side(it's used the most), It is the black rubber thingy poking out the frame when with door open you look towards engine BUT at the door frame part normally covered by door(door pushes in plunger(opening or closing circuit depending)). May be other part of circuit(overhead dome light even). You can switch alarm off BUT bring it to dealer to fix(get written estimate first AND hold them to it) as they should have no problem. Might be sensitivity setting which is adjustable. Fix it or f#K IT- simply remove wire to alarm horn. But dealer $50 should get it. $100 max! $10 do it yourself(parts only). Or zero if adjustment or clean/repair contact.
