we are about to close on our house and we have to tear down the ceiling and put all new sheetrock up and i wanted to know which is better and cheaper blown insulation or rolled insulation i dont want the cheapest just cause its cheap i want the best for my budget
Rolled insulation is going to be cheaper than the blown-in insulation but it can be a little more work because you have to cut the pieces to fit in properlyRemember that you can just cram insulation batting to make it fit; it needs to fit in the space properly without being compressed because otherwise it actually reduces the R-value of the insulationWith blow insulation you get around the cutting and fitting because, obviously, it fits itself in as you blow it inYou should double check the prices at Lowes or whatever your local hardware store isIt's been a little while since I've bought insulation so maybe the price difference isn't as bad any moreWhen properly applied, neither type is really better.
generally insulation but it depends on what you are going to be installing it inwhen it comes to houses the insulation that you should have will be more than what is cost effective for radiant barriers There are some very affordable reflective coated insulations but their actual R values are quite low unless you get the very expensive onesand if this is going inside a wall cavity the radiant barriers will be less effective while regular insulation will be more every house should have a radiant barrier but if it is a choice between one or the other then stick with the regular insulation ans it is nearly impossible to calculate how much of a benefit you will get from a radiant barrier in terms that can be compared to an R value.
