tin plates used for welding can buy sheets of it cheap :)
I do not know how heavy of metal or make you need. But, for trinket type projects, I suggest you go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy roofing flashing. It comes in variou guages, all the way from tin can thickness to serving tray thickness, it is usually coated with zink (making it rust proof), so you can solder on it, and it is (best of all) dirt cheap!. You can buy a whole roll of it, a foot wide and fifty feet long for about $12.00. If you do not want steel flashing, they sell aluminum flashing, just about as inexpensive. For the best prices on more exotic metals, like brass and copper, there is an online store called 'onlinemetals'- this is where I shop frequently for my specialty metal products- they sell everything in any size, shape or quanity and their service is outstanding- very quick to ship- and their prices can not be beaten. Brass, nickle, aluminum, copper sheets, squares, flats, rounds, - you name it.
its all on the end of the axel , the flange is deeper and the lug studs are longer and heavier
