Question:

What materials allow magnetism to act through them?

Please help me, I‘ve looked online, and I can‘t find anything. I have an assessment in a few weeks, trying to get as much revision in as possible, and this would really help! I‘m counting on you! xx

Answer:

You might find 3 heavy gauge, (schedule 80) brass or copper pipe, at a plumbing supply house, but it won't have quite a 1/2 thick wall. Do you really need that much? If you do, stop before you hurt yourself.
Call Central Steel and wire 1 800 621 8510 They have several locations and one of the largest suppliers of nonferrous metals. They do ship across the country. If they don't have it they will recommend where to get it.
You can find that at any metal wholesale outlet. It will weigh allot. Hope you have a hefty car or a pick up.
Common ones are iron, nickel, cobalt and their alloys, some compounds of rare earth metals, and a few naturally-occurring minerals such as lodestone. Tungsten Cesium Aluminium Lithium Magnesium and Sodium are also para-magnetic materials (which means they do get attracted by magnets, but only a little bit. That's most of them.
