what paint is used for painted fiberglass material such as the interior of a boat?
Two pack, or flow coat. Depends on the ground (the surface condition) and what others have done before you as to what precisely you need to do. Coating GRP is normal. Single pack, architectural (house and domestic) and chain store paints are not going to work in a fit for more than a short while at best. In some cases that is fine, but there is no substitute for quality in finishes. And most of the cost of painting is the prep work - why buy cheap paint after all that effort?
Obviously, fiberglass is painted. I suppose that somewhere in this the world someone is painting their fiberglass boat every single day... I paint mine, it seems, all too often. Two-part polyurethane paints are excellent for topsides, decks, or any area above the waterline where a durable, high-gloss or abrasion-resistant finish is required. Two-part polyurethane is the finest all-around coating that can be applied by brush and roller, and it can also be sprayed on if you have the equipment. The link below under source, (but I recommend any 2 part paint) - I use this stuff and I love it. I have built my boats for 40 years, and this paint, in my opinion, will give any novice or beginner the very best professional looking paint job. Happy & Safe Boating, John boatwrights.org
Don't paint it, simple. fibreglass isn't designed to be painted, and no paint is sold for the purpose. we painted our fibreglass boat yellow and 2 years later it looks a mess, with the paint peeling off in places and you can't sand it down because it damages the surface of the fibreglass. painting it will also considerably reduce the value of your boat.
Fiberglass doors are frequently chosen for their mildew and rust resistance.Unlike wood, they will not deteriorate or swell. They can also be less expensive than wood and metal doors.Fiberglass,as with other materials, are primed first and then painted.
