Question:

What protective clothing do I need for cleaning an attic?

I have never been in the attic of my house, and i've lived here for 8 yearsIt's certainly full of dust, insects etc, and I don't want my kids or I getting illDo we need to wear gloves when cleaning it, and maybe scarfs covering our mouths and noses? Is this too much or not enough?

Answer:

Would you wanna be 60 feet 3 inches from Albert Pujols or Prince Fielder with an aluminum bat in his hands? I've heard of 2 or 3 pitchers already this season getting hit in the head with line drivesIf the batter had an aluminum bat those guys would all be dead.
That's a really good questionI wondered this for the longest time and actually got answers from my dadWhen a ball is hit off of an aluminum bat, it tends to go faster then if you were to hit the ball off of a wooden batThey use aluminum bats in college I think to save moneyThey are trying to switch over to wooden thoughJust recently someone was killed from a ball that was hit off of an aluminum batSo basically it is more dangeroususing them would save money, but saving lives is better in the long run.
They hit the ball hard enough with wooden batsA hard line drive off a wood bat can be travelling 120 + mph, if they were hitting with aluminum bats they would literally kill some poor pitcherAlso, there's enough offense in MLB, they don't need to add a factor that will increase run scoring.
You may have fiberglass insulation up there as well as the things you mentionedSome people react worse than others to the insulationWear a long sleeve shirt, dust masks rather than a scarf ( they're cheap for a whole box) and gloves as you mentionedAnd then when you're done, wash those clothes separately from other laundryAgain, people react differently to it, so that may be an overkill, but better safe than itchy.
